Surrounded by beautifully manicured surroundings and within secure boundaries, 'Garden Lake' is a 4 acre lake fully stocked and immaculately cared for by the Gibson family.
This incredibly peaceful and relaxing venue is rich with local wildlife and birdlife ensuring you switch off from the hustle and bustle of every day life.
Located only a short transfer from Chumphon it's easy to get to John Wilsons Fishery. Most people are picked up from the local airport, however there is also a ferry boat connection to Koh Samui.
Fed by a natural spring and with daily managed oxygen and water quality levels the lake is the perfect environment for healthy and fast growing fish species. This is evident from the high weight gains we see every year.
The lake has a mixed silt and gravel bottom and ranges from 6 to 17 feet in depth. The margin shelves are start at about 3 feet which is perfect for photography of your prized captures, but then quickly drop off further.
All areas of the lake can be reached from the pegs and perform consistently well throughout the year.
From our experience the fish feed at all distances so you don't need to cast a long way. In fact some of our biggest fish have been caught only a few rod lengths out and predators such as the Arapaima and Redtail Catfish feed heavily in the margins.
You can walk the whole perimeter of the lake and if you like stalking fish then you can quietly drop baits by hand and try to catch fish out, particularly first thing in the morning and as it begins to go dark.

There are 3 high quality and comfortable double swims and one single swim around the lake providing access to different areas.
Each man made swim features a solid base ensuring that you are always fishing on a stable and clean environment.
They all have a covered seated area (sala) with tables and chairs, have electric points, fans and a WiFi repeater.
Our swims are large enough to comfortably accommodate 2 anglers as well as allowing your guide to move around and help you without getting in the way.
The swims are close enough you can easily return to your room whenever you want and there is also a separate toilet block at one end of the lake.

Fish care is our upmost priority at John Wilsons Fishery.
Thats why we designed and have custom made our unique fish care and weighing stations in every single swim.
Unlike some venues - all photography and weighing of fish is done in the water and under no circumstances are fish removed to the bank. Not only do we think the photographs look better in the water but it's dangerous to the fishes health to remove them to the bank.
Our unique weighing stations also allow us to properly and safely and most importantly accurately record the weight of any fish. We don't believe in guessing weights and as an angler it's important to know your once in a life time PB's actual weight.
Each swim also has aeration set up so that once caught the fish are allowed to recover before being released.
Fish Weights
Since 2020 we have been weighing and monitoring the weights of all our specimen fish. We have seen a consistent and rapid growth trend on all species which we expect to continue and evidences the health of the lake and fish within it.
For example in the last 12 months we have seen an average weight gain on our Redtail Catfish of 6-10lb and some of our Siamese Carp have grown by over 10lb!
